News Marketing; Cookies 🍪

Who eyes wouldn't get caught by a 12-foot-tall skeleton dressed up as a Girl Scout? The composition of the massive skeleton next to the nine-year-old little girl, Leila Brinlee was amusing. And who doesn't like Girl Scout cookies?

With help from her mother and a neighbor, Leila dressed the 12-foot skeleton in a Girl Scout uniform. The skeleton already stands out, as Seth Godin said, this skeleton is a purple cow, it is different and remarkable. They named the skeleton Juliette after the founder of the Girl Scouts Juliette Gordon Low.

The article is very cute and heartwarming even if I wasn't looking for specifically a marketing article I still would have pressed the link to read the cute story. It emphasizes how Leila was very scared of Juliette at first, but after dressing her up she warmed up to her.

The Girl Scouts are creative in their marketing and selling of cookies. Not just with Juliette but also staying with a theme, in Louisiana Mardi Gras season overlaps with cookie season. so to boost cookie sales the girls package purple, green, and gold boxes of cookies.

Juliette is eye-catching and creative. People pull over to take a photo with the big skeleton girl scout. Leila's neighbor, Donnie Louviere came up with the idea after seeing some posts in a group for fans of the popular yard skeletons. Even in my city, there is this one house I love to drive by at least once each month, just to see the lawn skeleton. It is always dressed up and doing something themed, for example in December it has a Santa hat and is putting lights onto the house. With how big and just fun the skeleton is I go out of my way to drive by the home. Using one of those big skeletons that are already really popular for selling something, I think it's genius.

I love what they did, having the advertisement outside all day makes it so you get more chances to sell cookies. If you only sold the cookies when the girl could your window to sell is shorter. Having Juliette standing there all day opens the window for possible buys up so much more. Not to mention when someone takes a photo of your skeleton and posts it, it is being spread and getting the idea out there. Some might even drive out just to go take a photo with Juliette.

It is working already in sales for the scout. As of January 18th, she has already sold about 400 boxes.
